PepsiCo to acquire Siete
I’ve been staring at the TK on this page longer than I would like to admit. Is anyone else a big fan of the TK? My first boss in New York was from the magazine world and she instilled a love of the TK into me, which I often have to explain every time I partner with a new agency.
There are 30+ links ahead so I won’t belabor the point but, like, how are we all doing?
This week's picks include the Off-White sale, Athlos x Tiffany & Co and Michael Rider replacing Hedi Slimane at Celine.

- left Washington Post to launch usermag.co on Substack.
Really f*cking weird that LVMH sold Off-White on what would have been Virgil Abloh's 44th birthday…
Beyoncé new Levi's "REIIMAGINE" campaign is good… and it generated $5M in media exposure in just 48 hours.
Inside all of us is a gross girl. Ione Gamble on capitalism, patriarchy and self-correcting.
Willem Dafoe closed Miu Miu’s SS25 show and Kylie Jenner closed Coperni at Disneyland Paris.
Nikita note: Coperni showed a shirt they haggled with a seller on VINTED to source and I love Masha’s take on Kylie at Coperni.
Disney has been on a roll with high-end fashion + beauty collabs this year (see above), and the Disney Fantasia x Pleasing collab is no exception. Tap to watch the adorable 3D animation set to Paul Dukas' "The Sorcerer's Apprentice.”
I keep getting ads (???) for the Mojo app, which describes itself as the gym for sex? For dudes?
Mel Ottenberg's MEL by RE/DONE capsule is so hot.
Birkenstock launched foot cream. Lol.
Estée Lauder is studying perfume and emotion, in partnership with Dresden University of Technology.
Formula 1 and LVMH announced a 10-year partnership, kicking off next year for Formula 1's 75th anniversary.
Kai Cenat is getting his own McDonald's meal (Chicken Big Mac) on 10/10.
Who owns the past? This Rolling Stone exclusive on the Internet Archive losing its appeal in its fight to lend digitized books without publisher approval is a must-read.
Scooby-Doo has *always* featured fun guest stars, so I was DELIGHTED to see an animated Saweetie in the trailer for Mindy Kaling's latest Velma Halloween special!
Riley Reid x Four Loko is… really terrible. There's nothing else to say. I've already wasted enough time and attention on it.

The rich kids understand little about money besides how to spend it, so bespoke money workshops are happening… I think investment and financial literacy is desperately needed but these kids have probs had investment portfolios since conception.
So much of economic policy versus reality doesn’t match up, so it’s interesting to see the White House take the vibecession seriously.
I personally do not understand what is going on with Beyoncé’s brand. What are these endless launches and dilution… And why does it never stick? Ochuko popped off with this take, framing Beyoncé as an icon but perhaps not a tastemaker in the capital T sense.
Pepsi bought Siete for $1.2B - for context, Mondelez bought Clif Bar (a much older business for over double - $2.9B – a business that took almost 20 years to build!) Siete got an injection from Private Equity in 2019 – approx $90m! I can only assume most of that went to marketing, growth and distro.
Prior to this season, Coperni’s run of spectacles resonated. Is the approach changing?
Focusing too much on doom is keeping us from imagining a better future.
Miu Miu is for the real reader girls. Every QR code goes to another work of cultural theory.
I’m scared about fascism and a less-literate society, and kids at elite schools can’t read books cover to cover. Bodes poorly.
Hedi left Céline and boy, was that door REVOLVING because Michael Rider’s appointment was announced not even 24 hours later!
Athlos winners get Tiffany & Co. crowns.
mentioned Formula 1 and LVMH inking a 10-year partnership. And the LV-influenced Olympics already happened. I think sport is the final remaining vestige of monoculture, and that’s why this overlap is happening. Also going to events is expensive… anyhow!Gen-Z male birth control pill. Say that five times fast.
Where does culture come from?
